Recovery varies by individual, but because a micro-cannula is used during fat injection, there is less swelling and bruising compared with general fat grafting, so daily life is usually not significantly affected.
Even for patients who appear slim and may not seem to have much fat available, fat can be harvested from various areas such as the abdomen, thighs, and hips, allowing a sufficient amount to be obtained without difficulty.
When fat cells are grafted into all three tissue layers the subcutaneous fat layer, muscle layer, and bone-fascial layer, the cells survive longer than when injected only into the subcutaneous layer. In addition, mixing autologous plasma (PRP) with purified fat improves graft survival, and when combined with a second procedure, the results can be maintained semi-permanently.
