Medial epicanthoplasty is a procedure that opens the inner eye corner to moderately expose the lacrimal lake.
SISUN Plastic Surgery's medial epicanthoplasty does not simply extend the
inner corner in terms of length. Depending on how little the lacrimal lake is exposed
or how severe the epicanthal fold is, it can also correct the overall
shape of the inner eye corner. When the intercanthal distance is wide,
opening the downward-angled inner corner also helps balance the facial proportions.

Epicanthal Fold?

Epicanthal Fold commonly seen in Asian eyes

One common feature of Korean eyes is that the inner corner is often covered by an epicanthal fold.
This fold can hide the front part of the double eyelid crease, create a hook-shaped look,
and reduce visible pupil exposure, making the eyes look constricted or fierce.
In such cases, removing the epicanthal fold
is necessary to create a more ideal eye appearance.

Different Shapes of the Epicanthal Fold

If medial epicanthoplasty is performed too aggressively, the lacrimal lake can become overly exposed,
and hook-shaped deformity or visible scarring may develop at the inner corner.
That is why the most important part of medial epicanthoplasty is
moderately exposing the lacrimal lake while correcting the shape of the inner eye corner.

the inner eye corner is opened to moderately expose the lacrimal lake,
extend the horizontal eye length, and
